I’m back. It’s been awhile since I’ve shared anything publicly (and with any consistency!) In the last few years, I’ve shifted directions a bit (and shifted back, and over again) and as with any kind of journey there are twists and turns, curves, mountains and valleys, and the pursuit of the authentic self is no different.
If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished? – Rumi
It can take you places you never thought of going and give you experiences you never even dreamed being possible. The key is to be open and not attached to what you think you want, or even to what happens and to allow the divine river of life to carry you (for someone like me who likes to have more control, or at least know what’s going on, this can be seriously excruciating)
A couple months back, my Dad passed away. There’s something about the death of a parent that makes you deeply evaluate everything. Especially when that parent is filled with anguish and regrets. I’ll share more about that in another post…
For years I’ve been trying to pinpoint what specific area to focus on, to pick a zone, so to speak. And I’ve never been content to do that. So I won’t. I’m a person who gets inspired by all sorts of things in the moment. And these I hope to share.
I’m still about healing from the inside out, and an unearthing those brilliant hidden gems within you that have been buried for so long.
But I’m also about stepping into the joys of living creatively, expressing yourself out in the world and taking those adventurous risks to do so and living by Inspiration.
My intention is to share my journey and any fun tidbits that may come about and if they help or inspire you along the way, all the better 🙂
At the end of the day, it is fear that stops us in our tracks and convinces us that it is not a smart idea to be who we truly are.
And its that decision to run away from who we are that creates the energetic disruption leading to the physical, emotional and spiritual imbalances that completely derail our life. The fear can be so deeply rooted in those survival programs, that we don’t even realize when we are acting from a place of safety versus who we are.
We can go on for a VERY long time being unaware of these fears and their corresponding beliefs. But just because we are unaware, it doesn’t mean there’s no impact.
The energetic imbalance they create continues until these beliefs and emotions are addressed.
And many of us are REALLY good at ignoring the cues. We are afraid to look at our fears. Which means these energy imbalances can go on for a REALLY long time!
This is where the body becomes such an indispensable tool. It will always tell us, by pain and symptoms, the moment we have bought into a belief that does not resonate with the core of who we are. It could be a belief based on someone’s behavior or it could be a belief we carry about ourselves. But it always alerts us of misalignments with who we truly are and how we are to live in this world.
We can choose to ignore the initial tap on the shoulder physically and emotionally, but as energetic disruption is still at at the physical level, the symptoms will only get worse until the belief or imbalance is addressed. It can become debilitating, painful and very scary.
If we are listening carefully, the body will give us the signals encouraging us make the necessary adjustments to restore our health.
However, the moment we make the choice to let go of our fears the energy shifts and the body responds.
And the symptoms ? They disappear as the balance is restored. So at the end of the day, its the fears we carry that keep us from from total health. Its those fears that prevent us from making choices that fully express who we truly are. Pick something you are afraid of and go do it. See what happens.
The body, with all its wisdom, knows what to do to heal itself and maintain its life and has done so since its formation. When we are feeling discomfort or disease, the body is not suddenly doing something different to us, but we have been doing something that has now affected the body. And the body is kindly or not so kindly (if we’ve been ignoring it for awhile) letting us know.
Now this is not to blame, but to empower. If we have done something to compromise the energy flow in our body, that keeps our body from balancing itself, then we can do something different and restore flow and our health along with it.
Sometimes the boost of a cleaner diet, extra rest or exercise can help. Other times, it doesn’t. It’s then that we have to look deeper and address the root cause.
Part of what our body does for us as we grow – really its number one job, in general – is to keep us alive and safe. So when we grow up, the body is constantly on alert for threats or perceived threats to our safety. And when it experiences an energetic vibration, in the form of thoughts, emotions and behaviors that are different from its home frequency, it remembers.
If anything like that comes around again, it’ll know how to respond in a way to keep us safe and alive.
Adapting to these ‘threats’ is what programs us to take on the beliefs, emotions and behaviors of our surroundings versus what is actually US.
So we end up living with a false identity formed around these experiences that are misaligned from what we originally came in this world with. We in essence run the program that our body created to keep us alive. For the most part, we tend not to care about our identities or question what we believe, why we believe it, or even if its true. The program just runs, and we do whatever we do, not realizing how much those early experiences shape our lives and the everyday choices that we make.
What does this have to do with the energy flow in our bodies and how well it body heals itself? Everything.
You see, everything that we believe and feel that is not in alignment with who we are at a soul level, is remembered by the body as a threat. This energetic disruption directly affects the body’s energetic system where then optimal functioning is compromised as full access to life force energy is limited by these filters.
And our bodies let us know.
So think about it – Where in your life are you making choices out of safety? What would you do different if you knew you would always be SAFE? How would your life look? What are some small steps you could take to start doing those things? See what happens.
The body and its health is so important in experiencing life to the fullest. Think of how much we’d be missing out on if we were blindfolded, physically numbed, had ear plugs in and no way to move around. We’d be missing out on quite a lot.
We come into this world to experience living in a body, being able to feel, touch, smell, move, jump, laugh, play. Watch a baby and the joy they take in discovering their toes for the first time, standing on their feet for the first time, riding a bike for the first time and the bountiful energy they have to play, play, play as they experience the world through their bodies.
As life is experienced through our senses, we learn from the world and create beliefs around what we see, hear, smell, touch, taste based on the contrasts that we perceive. The body becomes a learning mechanism to understand the world and its surroundings. The initial newness of these experiences are lost as a pattern of learning takes over. The first time a child is wobbling on their own two feet is replaced with the surety of a teenager going for a run. And its nothing that we think about, the body just does what it has previously learned from trial and error. You don’t direct the energy to be used as fuel for your cells in order to make your muscles contract so that you can propel your body forward. No, It just does it for you. It breathes for you. It maintains itself for you. It moves for you. You don’t know how. You don’t need to.
And we totally take this for granted. Most of us go through life without a real thought to the bodies function until something goes wrong. Maybe something starts to feel off, maybe performance or energy isn’t what it used to be, or maybe we get diagnosed with something. Clearly our body, from our perspective, isn’t working ‘right’. At this point we can feel like victims of our body and life betraying us. That our body is ‘wrong’ because it hurts or has an illness. And we don’t like it.
Consider that your body is doing exactly what it has always been doing 24/7 to maintain itself for you. Consider the body’s feedback, in the form of pain, symptoms or illness is there by design. That the body acts as a messenger to YOU, to let you know something is out of balance in your life. And that this imbalance in your life is compromising your body. When that message is fully received, the body no longer has to react in a way that will get your attention.
Take a few moments to pay attention to your body today and what it feels like. Start with the top of your head and work your way down to your toes. Feel into each part of your body and pay attention to what you notice, if there’s any tension. Then ask yourself: Where is your life out of balance? What would balance look like for you? What is one thing you could do to inch yourself back into that place of balance? Go do it and see what happens.
